Revealed during the middle Makkan period, Surah Fatir (The Originator) focuses on the absolute power and self-sufficiency of God, who created the heavens and the earth and appointed angels as messengers. It addresses a proud and defiant Quraysh by reminding humanity that they are entirely dependent on their Creator, whereas God is free of all needs. The chapter utilizes powerful natural imagery—the different colors of fruits, mountains, and humans, and the separation of fresh and salty waters—as signs of an intelligent Designer. It warns humanity against the deceptive allure of worldly life and the whispers of Satan, emphasizing that every individual will carry their own spiritual burden on the Day of Judgment.
