Revealed in Makkah, Surah An-Nas (Mankind) is the final chapter of the Quran and the second of the chapters of protection. It commands humanity to seek refuge with the Lord, King, and God of mankind from the whispering evil of the retreating whisperer (Satan or negative thoughts) who whispers doubts and evil suggestions into the breasts of mankind, whether from among the jinn or humans.

Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind

Min sharri alwaswasi alkhannasi

From the evil of the sneaky whisperer

Allathee yuwaswisu fee sudoori alnnasi

Who whispers into the hearts of people

Mina aljinnati wa alnnasm
Translation
From among jinn and among people.”
