Revealed in Makkah as the shortest Surah in the Quran, Surah Al-Kawthar (The Abundance) was sent down to console the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when the pagans mocked him for having no surviving male heirs, calling him cut-off. It promises him Al-Kawthar (a river of abundance in Paradise), commanding him to pray and sacrifice, declaring that his enemies are the ones who are cut-off.
