Revealed in Makkah, Surah Al-Infitar (The Cleaving) describes the sky splitting, the stars dispersing, and the graves being turned over on the Day of Judgment. It challenges human ingratitude with the powerful question: 'O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous?' It warns that recording angels document every action, and that righteous deeds lead to bliss while evil leads to fire.

Each soul will know what it has advanced, and what it has deferred

O man! What deluded you concerning your Lord, the Most Generous

Allathee khalaqaka fasawwaka faAAadalaka

He Who created you, and formed you, and proportioned you

Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaa rakkabaka

In whatever shape He willed, He assembled you

Kalla bal tukaththiboona bialddeeni

But you reject the religion

Wainna AAalaykum lahafitheena

Though over you are watchers

Honest recorders

They know everything you do

The virtuous will be in bliss
