Revealed in Madinah, Surah Al-Hujurat (The Rooms) serves as the ethical code of conduct for the Muslim community, establishing rules of respect, brotherhood, and social integrity. It commands the believers to lower their voices in the presence of the Prophet and verify news brought by troublemakers to prevent injustice. The chapter strictly prohibits destructive social vices like mockery, backbiting, spying, and name-calling. It contains the famous universal declaration that all of humanity was created from a single pair and divided into nations and tribes solely to know one another, establishing that the most noble in the sight of God is the most conscious of Him.
